Art for Well-Being Competition ($1000 Grand Prize)

The 2023 application for the Art for Well-Being Competition is open. The competition has three categories: film, video and design through which judges want to see you express yourself and answer the question “What does well-being mean to you?”.   Quality and relevance to the five domains of adolescent well-being will be crucial for successful entries to the competition and selected masterpieces will be featured at the Global Forum for Adolescents itself, at major events leading up to the Global Forum such as UN General Assembly in New York and throughout the 1.8 Billion Young People for Change campaign. Submissions are accepted until 2 July 2023, with winners decided through social media and jury votes, and announced at the Global Forum for Adolescents, 11-12 October 2023.   Young people worldwide between the ages of 10 – 24 years are eligible to apply. Fishbowl Challenge for Young Social Innovators (Up to $50,000 Seed Funding)

Solve the world’s biggest social challenges through tech-powered solutions. The Fishbowl Challenge connects ambitious young individuals from around the world to develop technology-driven social ventures that address critical issues in Healthcare, Agriculture, and Sustainable Energy. For six (6) months, teams from around the world will go through various venture-building stages, with a shared goal to secure up to $50,000 in seed funding.  During this journey, they will benefit from the guidance and expertise of experienced mentors and judges within their respective industries, equipping them with the tools to turn their innovative ideas into reality. The Fishbowl Challenge Grand Prize Up to $50,000 in seed funding awarded to the winning ventures! Winners will receive up to $50,000 in prize money to further develop their ideas. Access to subject-matter experts, mentors, leading academics, and investors is also provided to help bring the winning visions to life. ICAN-BOI iHack4SDG Challenge 2023

ICAN-BOI, in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Bank of Industry, will gather a new generation of innovative thinkers from across the tech industry to tackle some of the most pressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), tagged “iHack4SDG Challenge 2023. ICAN-BOI, an innovation hub at the heart of Yaba and Ebutte Metta, opens applications for the iHack4SDG Challenge, which will take place from May 17 to May 24, 2023. The demo for the challenge will be held physically at the ICAN-BOI Innovation Hub. Ten (10) ideas will be selected to participate in the challenge, from which three teams will emerge winners. The ICAN-BOI iHack4SDG Challenge provides an opportunity for participants to collaborate and develop innovative solutions based on 10 out of the 17 SDGs. SESA Call for Entrepreneurs 2023 (EUR 50,000-100,000) Funding

Smart Energy Solutions for Africa (SESA) consortium invites local, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda and Tanzania to apply for the “2nd SESA Call for Entrepreneurs 2023”. The SESA project, funded by the European Commission is operative across nine African countries with local and international partners, testing and validating sustainable energy solutions and business models that are replicable and generate local opportunities for economic development.   The call is looking for entrepreneurs with expertise in addressing the continent’s energy access challenges with a focus on rural and off-grid communities. The SESA project will make available between EUR 50,000 to EUR 100,000 per selected enterprise for the design, implementation, and evaluation of submitted replication projects via service agreements. Entities are welcome to form consortiums to apply for the call. However, if selected, the service agreement will be signed with the lead partner only. Interested enterprises should be operational in domains such as solar irrigation technologies in rural communities, waste-to-energy solutions to improve clean cooking, and solar cold chain technologies for both peri-urban and rural communities among other related technical fields. Breakthrough Junior Challenge ($250,000 Prize)

The Breakthrough Junior Challenge is an annual global competition for students to inspire creative thinking about science. Students ages 13 to 18 from countries across the globe are invited to create and submit original videos (2:00 minutes maximum) that brings to life a concept or theory in the life sciences, physics or mathematics. The submissions are judged on the student’s ability to communicate complex scientific ideas in engaging, illuminating, and imaginative ways. The Breakthrough Junior Challenge Prize If your video is chosen as the Winner, you will receive: $250,000 Post-secondary scholarship; $50,000 Prize for your teacher, and $100,000 Breakthrough Science Lab. The Breakthrough Prize was created to honour important advancements in the categories of Fundamental Physics, Life Sciences and Mathematics. The Breakthrough Prizes are sponsored by foundations established by Sergey Brin, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, Yuri and Julia Milner, and Anne Wojcicki. The Next Titan Africa Challenge ($100,000 Grand Prize)

The Next Titan Africa Challenge debuts with a grand prize of $100,000 and with $20,000 for three other runner ups. The show will showcase the brightest entrepreneurial talents in Africa; and the participants of the Season One will come from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, and Malawi which are drawn from three African Regions: West Africa. East Africa and Southern Africa. Eligibility Requirements Next Titan Africa Challenge Show Stages Stage 1: Registration Young Entrepreneurs with unbeatable business ideas or existing ones from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi between the ages of 20 and 35 are qualified, and expected to fill out Registration Form stating your business ideas, and full pictures. Stage 2: Auditions Successful contestants from the first stage will be invited for Auditions holding in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi Stage 3: Regional Virtual Bootcamp Successful contestants from each country will participate in the Virtual bootcamp of the country. ShEquity Business Accelerator (SHEBA) Cohort 4

Established in March 2021 by ShEquity in collaboration with its implementation partner, MBC Africa, ShEquity Business Accelerator (SHEBA) addresses the existing gender funding gap by de-risking African female-led businesses, getting them to become investment ready, and equipping the founders with the skill set needed to grow and scale their businesses. The SHEBA program has executed three (3) cohorts of 30 participants each, with participants from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. The 17-week SHEBA program provides venture-building and technical support to African female entrepreneurs across the ECOWAS region who are looking to successfully grow their businesses and become investment ready.
